Over the past eleven years Scott has enjoyed an active career as a performer, composer, accompanist, and instructor. The diversity of both his educational and professional experience has left him well versed in a wide variety of musical settings. Though Scott’s first love is Jazz and Blues Guitar he also has had many opportunities to play with a number of Northwest based Rock and Indi groups (Screw Flanders, Cracker Factory, The Chris Wilson Five); as well as to compose and accompany for the Seattle dance community. As a young musician Scott was hired to play in the pit orchestra for “Stage Door to the Future,” a theatre program for youth with Eastern Washington University’s Theater Department. Scott studied composition and music-theory at the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR) were he also became well versed in ear-training and music theory. He later transferred to Cornish Collage of the Arts were he completed his BFA in Jazz Studies. Scott has recently founded the group Soul Trauma, an original Rhythm and Blues group that debuts his role as a lead vocalist. His wide range of experience has left him with great appreciation for many different styles and disciplines.
Scott has worked extensively with students of all ages as a freelance guitar instructor and as a substitute teacher at Discovery School, a K through 6th grade institution (Spokane WA). Watching students progress over time and find themselves in their instrument is one of his great loves. As a teacher he constantly strives for a one on one relationship with each student; always looking for the opportunity were his skills and experience can best serve the individual. Above all Scott has a great passion for his craft and hopes to share this experience with many others.
