Jacob Bloom

Jacob Bloom, Guitar and Bass Clarinet

Growing up on Mercer Island, I have had the benefit of going through arguably the best band program in the state of Washington.  I have played clarinet for 10 years, bass clarinet for 8 years, and guitar and bass for 8 years.  I have played in all genres of bands from reggae, rock, jazz, orchestral, fusion, hop-hop, blues, bluegrass, and everything else under the sun.  My musical accolades are as follows:

  • All-State Wind ensemble 2007, 2008, and 2009*
  • Nominated for best high school pit orchestra while playing bass in the rock opera: “Bat Boy: The Musical”
  • New England Conservatory Summer Festival Band 2008*
  • All State solo and ensemble 2008, 2009 in which I placed 2nd and 3rd respectively
  • University of Washington Wind Ensemble 2010, 2011*
  • Musical tours of China, Japan, and New England

Although my development as a musician has come a long way and continues to progress as I go through my education at the University of Washington, I am also very interested in progressing my skill in teaching students of all ages and aptitude levels.  I am extremely passionate about music, and I wish to instill the values of hard work, good use of practice time, appreciation of all musical styles, and most importantly the fun that can come from a well-planned musical education.  I am excited to teach the 10-year-old prodigy who is trying to make it to Julliard someday or the 43-year-old dad who just wants to learn some songs to sing around the campfire.  So if you want to learn about the complexities of music, as well as experience the joy in learning a new song to show off to your family and friends all the while having an awesome time, please contact me.
